Shared Education
The P5-P7 pupils headed for Belleek on their shared education trip with Belleek Controlled P.S. First stop was the Belleek Pottery where we separated into 2 groups , some touring first and others having a historical walk of Belleek town. During the tour we learnt all about the pottery, why it was founded here and how the Pottery is made from design to completion. Some of us even knew the workers in the Pottery, a wonderful interesting and fun tour. We also had the historical tour of Belleek organised and led by Mr Beattie, spotting and photographing some of the highlights of Belleek, including oldest thatch cottage, site of Methodist church and old well. But as we all know some of Belleek’s best highlights are its people. Thanks to Michelle from Rooney’s Newsagent who came out to greet us and gave us all a bar of chocolate. We also met Mary who used to be our secretary out walking with her dogs, she was full of craic as usual. After all tours were completed we headed back to the Controlled school for a history talk about Belleek from Johnny Cunningham. He has a wealth of knowledge and information and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing the old photos.
While all this was happening in Belleek, back at the school the younger children were being joined by the younger children from Manorhamilton and Corry. They had a day of dinosaur themed messy play. All the children got very involved playing in rice and spaghetti and lots of other things. They also enjoyed lots of free play with their friends showing them the highlights of our lovely school.
Another fun filled day of shared education, the next one will be a visit to Marble Arch Caves with everyone, looking forward to it.
